Bernhard Moshammer / Börn

Bernhard Moshammer writes prose and songs, sings and plays several instruments. He mainly works on his own material.
Under the name BÖRN (an American friend obsessed with the umlauts had written his name like this) he produced and released a couple of CDs, to name a few: FAME & SUCCESS (with Mika Vember, 2009) or SCHÖNE DINGE EINFACH (2007). In 2009 his first novel ZEIT DER IDIOTEN was being published in Vienna (Milena Verlag).

Now there are two new releases:
EIN KURZER ROMAN ÜBER DIE SCHRECKLICHKEIT DER LIEBE (A Short Novel On The Horrors Of Love), in which he tells about a first love-experience (his, actually) and questions people’s tendency to seek and repeat this heartbreaking pain over and over again.
It’s, of course, written in German. If you happen to speak this beautiful language and if you happen to be interested, you can purchase it here:
And then there is a new CD, which could have been called 13 Songs On The Horrors Of Love, but he chose L, after a quote from his book:

love doesn’t need an alphabet
L seems to do it
a hollow sound
a senseless tone

He needed some songs to pep up his readings, which he finds rather dull. So these songs are written in German, too. His idea of putting a drummachine from the nineties, a Gibson from the fifties and his voice (1968) together started the process for this album. Well, he let himself go, took a little help from guest-singers and musicians (viola, saxophone, piano …) and created 13 rather lavishly arranged popsongs. You can listen to some samples in the audio-section or buy or download it here:

When not working on his own ideas, Mr Moshammer takes part in projects that enable him to do so. Mostly at the Burgtheater in Vienna. At the moment you can see him play and sing in two productions: LIEBER SCHÖN (2010, Reasons To Be Pretty by Neil La Bute) and EINE SOMMERNACHT (2010, Midsummer by David Greig & Gordon McIntyre). He also wrote some music for the Austrian TV-series SCHLAWINER (2011).

In recent years he played a lot of concerts with Mika Vember, produced a record with the Viennese band DAS TROJANISCHE PFERD, in 2006 he played two memorable nights (at least for himself) with PATTI SMITH, in 2008 he wrote a play in monologues for the amateur theatre group PERPETUUM in his hometown of St. Pölten, which finally hit the stage in 2010.

Besides he fell in love with the ukulele, and in spring 2010 he recorded the not yet released album: EVERYTHING IS COMPLICATED EXCEPT MY UKULELE, a song-collection for ukulele, voice and viola, which a friend called rather demanding, but his wife finds really good.

Thanks for visiting, have a nice day!
